Healthy Kids Day



Get a Jump On Summer

Saturday, April 27 • 6-8 pm

We are excited to offer an evening of family fun as we join 1900 YMCA’s across the country to celebrate Healthy Kids Day. Come into any of our 22 YMCA locations between 6 – 8 pm. The event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
Family Activities:
  • Gym, pool, games, craft and family fitness samplers
  • Pledge to live healthier this summer
  • Free LIVE HEALTHY wristband and Summer Planning Calendar
  • Healthy ideas, tips, snack recipes and samples

Healthy Living Pledge

Join hundreds of families across the metro on this day and time as we pledge to live healthier all summer long. Each YMCA will feature a large banner stating the following pledge:
Every family can be a healthy family. We pledge to focus our family’s efforts to live healthier around
The Y’s 5 pillars of a healthy family home:
Eat Healthy, Play Every Day, Get Together, Go Outside, and Sleep Well 
Participants that sign the pledge will be given a LIVE HEALTHY wristband, a symbol of our shard commitment.
Families can also receive the Healthy Family Home Planning Calendar with tips and activities for a healthy summer.

Wellness Fair & Family Activities:

Families can explore the five pillars of a healthy family home:
Eat Healthy, Play Every Day, Get Together, Go Outside, and Sleep Well as they move through different educational activities and active play options.
Healthy Living Team
Here you will find information on how to create a healthy family home, motivating activities you can do with the kids, nutritional information, simple healthy snack ideas, snack samples, recipes and more.
Youth Development Team
The YMCA is an expert at keeping kids and families active and engaged. Branches will feature a Scholastic Book Fair, face painting and team building activities. Kids’ Stuff area will be open with information on how these activities lead to the development of your child. YMCA’s with gyms will host a variety of games. Exception: Andover Community Center gym will be unavailable, activities will take place inside the Andover Y MCA.
Social Responsibility Team
  • Create a Reusable Bag
    Go green and create a reusable bag from an old t-shirt. We will supply the t-shirt or you can bring your own. This simple project is highly creative and lots of fun. NO sewing involved.
  • Hands Only CPR
    An important part of healthy living is to know what to do in a health crisis. Anyone can learn Hands Only CPR and we will show you how it’s done with this short demonstration. Parents, if you haven’t had training in the past or you need a reminder, you won’t want to miss it.
  • Put More Play in Your Day NOW
    Bring your swim suit and tennis shoes! Activities vary by branch. Here is a sample of what you can expect. Activities vary by branch.
Pool Activities
Families can choose between unstructured family open swim, water features such as slides to organized aquatics activities such as; water polo, water exercise sampler, synchronized swimming sampler, boating safety demonstrations and swimming lesson demonstrations.
Gym Activities
Branches with gyms will host a variety of activities. Families can shoot hoops, try the climbing walls or participate in team building activities and group games that are fun and enriching.
Family Fitness Samplers
Branches will have 15 – 20 minute sampler rotations. Types of classes may include Zumbatomic, Drums, Hip Hop, Family Boot Camp, BOSU, Obstacle Course, Kids Yoga, Kids Fitness Boot Camp and more. A schedule will be posted the day of the event in the branch.
