Congratulations to 5th grade teacher, Michele Perkins, for being selected as Grainwood's Teacher of the Year! Michele has taught 5th grade in the Prior Lake-Savage School District for 13 years, and she also taught 1st and 3rd grade at Belgrade Brooten-Elrosa School District for 8 years. Her time in the Prior Lake-Savage School District has allowed her to teach 5th grade at Westwood and now at Grainwood. She received her undergraduate degree in education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her master's degree at St. Scholastica.Michele has served on a variety of committees during her time with the school district. Some of her past and present committees include PBIS, RtI, Report Card, Sunshine, and Student Council Supervisor. She is also the Prior Lake High School Assistant Cross Country Coach.
Michele lives in Lakeville with her husband, Troy, and her daughters Jaya, who is a freshman at U of M-Crookston and Taylor, who is a junior at Lakeville North High School. She enjoys all sports, reading, and spending time with family.
