GW Summer Reading Initiative

At our last All School Meeting on Wednesday, Grainwood kicked-off its summer reading event with a little help and a WOWing performance from the fourth graders. Here is an example of the dance, thanks to a new version of last summer's mega hit "I Got a Feelin..." now called "Gotta Keep Reading." If you have not seen this, please take a moment.

We are encouraging students to spend part of their 12 weeks off from school improving their reading fluency and comprehension. Daily reading is the single most important habit your child should continue, no matter the season! On the reading log sent home the last week of school (a link to the log can be found at the bottom of this post), please have your child mark down the minutes he/she reads each day, for a minimum of 300 minutes a month.

For participating in this initiative, your child will receive a free meal at Applebee’s and recognition next fall at an All-School Meeting. A big thank you goes out to the Grainwood PTC and Applebee’s for helping support this initiative. Please make sure your child returns his/her reading log at Back-To-School Night on Wednesday, September 1st to receive a dinner certificate from his/her new classroom teacher. KEEP READING!
