Dear Grainwood Families,
Where has this year gone? We are in the final stretch of the school year, which means “spring fever” is setting in. As students begin finishing up their MAP testing in Grades 2-5, the staff at Grainwood would like your support at home during these last five weeks of school with making sure homework and independent reading are still a priority!
I would like to take the opportunity to thank each of you for the fabulous year I have had at Grainwood. It has truly been a pleasure to be the principal in such a wonderful, supportive and caring community. With the end of the year approaching, planning is already underway for next school year.
Speaking of next year...The Carver-Scott SHIP initiative has decided to move fully ahead with a partnership with Prior Lake-Savage district and Grainwood Elementary in 2010. SHIP is a component of Minnesota’s nation-leading 2008 health reform law. A key element of this reform is working with schools on nutrition policies. I will be working with Carver-Scott representatives in the near future to learn about the grant and its possibilities for our school. Stay Tuned...More to come this fall.
Secondly, congratulations to the 82 Grainwood families for their contribution to Target over the past year. With the redcard rewards program, schools receive back a portion of all purchases at Target. Remarkably, Grainwood should expect at least $2395.77 for their August payout! Wow!This is already $400 more than the payout last year. Thanks for shopping at Target!
Enjoy the summer…continue to support your child(ren) by having them practice their math skills and making sure they keep on reading!
