The school start and end times for Grainwood Elementary will remain the same next year. The 2013-2014 school day will be 8:30AM-3:00PM.

District 2013-14 School Calendar

Please be reminded that the district no longer prints or mails a district-wide calendar. A printable version of the calendar is available on the website along with Free-and-Reduced Price lunch information. You can find calendar information under "Family Resources" on the district website: http://www.priorlake-savage.k12.mn.us.

Summer Office Hours

Grainwood's summer office hours are 7:00-3:00 until June 24th. Our offices will be closed from June 25th-July 29th and will reopen on July 30th. During the time our offices are closed, questions can be answered by calling the district office at 952-226-0000.

Final Report Card

The end-of-the-year report cards will be posted on Family Access on Wednesday, June 12. To access your child's report card, log onto Grainwood's website and click the Family Resource tab, then select Family/Student Access from the drop down menu. If you have any questions or problems viewing your child's report card, please contact the Grainwood office at 952-226-0300.

GetUpNGo Final Update

With the school year having come to a close, I am happy to report that Grainwood's GetUpNGo Walk-a-thon raised over $6500 this spring.  The day turned out to be perfect (no rain), there was plenty of entertainment (water...water and more water!), and smiles could be seen on students and staff for the entire 20 minute walk.  Thanks again to all the volunteers who put this event together, especially co-chairs Kate Hopkins and Michelle Grabow.  Check out the link below for a few pictures of the event.

Celebrating "The Oscars" at our last All-School Meeting

Yesterday we celebrated our last all-school meeting "Oscars-style." Students and staff were encouraged to dress up and prepare to walk the red carpet. This was the first time we invited family members to attend. Thank you to those who could.  We hope you enjoyed the show!  Our Junior Naturalists, students with perfect attendance, Birthday Book Club participants (146) and classroom CARES Superheroes of the Year were recognized, our summer reading program was launched, Oscar themed CARES video nominees and winners were announced (student had a chance to vote on their favorites last week), a tribute to Mrs. Kufrin, who is retiring, was shared and our fifth graders were recognized for their transition to middle school. It was a wonderful celebration of the school year and a fitting end. Please plan to join us next year!

Project Alert Celebration

Today, the fifth graders held their Project Alert Celebration.  Project Alert is the replacement curriculum for DARE and offers numerous health lessons, taught by a teacher, with a focus on healthy life choices. Congratulations to Alyssa and Parker...this year's essay winners!

Birthday Book Club

Each year we invite students to donate a new book to the Grainwood library in honor of their birthday.  This year, 146 new books were added!  Thank you families and students for participating in this Grainwood tradition.  Over 400 new books have been added to our library over the last 3 years.  All students who donated this year will be recognized at our last all-school meeting on Wednesday.
