Thank you Grainwood Families for attending Back-to-School Night last Wednesday. What a success! Grainwood teachers were excited to meet your children and now the learning can begin starting Monday. (We always start by establishing routines and setting expectations!) We are excited to announce that the Grainwood Office re-design is complete as of yesterday. Here are a few final pictures showing the changes. (Notice the window added to the new door to increase visibility of all persons entering the office...a safety measure!) Also this month, crews were working on the exterior of the building completing a process known as tuck-pointing. All exterior cracks in the brick were fixed by jack-hammering out old brick and adding new brick and mortal. Unless you look very closely, it is hard to tell the new from the old.
Lastly, all exterior vents were cleaned, the main hallway painted (down past the lunchroom and the media center), "Grainwood Story Walls" was added to the mural in the media center (formally naming the project to all visitors) and 3 new Noon Supervisors were hired. Just a heads up...next year is Grainwood's turn for more building improvements. Stay tuned throughout the year as details are shared about the major construction and improvements coming our way during the summer of 2014!
