Thank you to the Grainwood Student Council for organizing and planning an event called Mix-It-Up Lunch. Mix-It-Up Lunch randomly places students within their grade level at one of nine tables in our lunchroom (each class occupies approximately 3 tables and we mostly have 3 sections per grade). Students then are seated with students they would normally not sit with to help initiate and/or strengthen student relationships throughout a grade level. Mix-It-Up Lunch is a national event promoted by the Southern Poverty Law Center and its publication Teaching Tolerance. Teaching Tolerance is dedicated to reducing prejudice, improving intergroup relations and supporting equitable school experiences for our nation's children. Grainwood's next Mix-It-Up Lunch will be Wednesday, April 7. Please ask your child about it! Please view the news clip below for a short report on one high school's Mix-It-Up Lunch Day.
