From the Office of the Principal....
Grainwood Families,
Beginning next week, "Family/Student Access" should go live on Wednesday, August 25th. This will allow families to check transportation information for the upcoming school year. Please contact transportation if you have particular questions about the posted information at 226-0050.
Also, classroom assignment letters will be mailed sometime next week (with a plan that they will be released next year through Family/Student Access). As I finalize staffing here at Grainwood for the upcoming year, I would like to welcome back Jaime Worm to 4th Grade. Ms. Worm taught with us last year in fourth grade and was able to be rehired upon a late summer district staffing change.
Please make sure to be checking the Grainwood Gab Blog at least weekly before and throughout the school year. Families are offered the opportunty to respond to my posts. The response option is active and I look forward to using it as an additional communication tool throughout the school year.
Lastly, Back-to-School Night takes place Wednesday, September 1 from 4 to 6 PM. I am hoping the later start time will better help accommodate Grainwood families and their schedules. Please also notice on the district calendar that GW is no longer hosting "Curriculum Nights" later in September. Short curriculum presentations will instead take place as part of Back-to-School Night. See you all then!

Painting the Peaceful Playground
<
Last week, a few Grainwood parents offered up an evening to help paint shapes and lines on the Grainwood playground towards the completion of the Peaceful Playground games. Painting began last spring with a portion of the playground completed in May. Our hope is the project will be finished by the start of school. The new color looks marvelous and definitely sends a message of ownership about our school! If you are available to help, please feel free to join the paint crew on Tuesday, August 17, at 6:30 PM for more painting fun. (There may be future dates as well.)
